It has been a long time coming but after some convincing from my brother, I have finally forced myself to find a new job. If you’ve been keeping up with this blog you’ll remember that the downsizing of our company has left many of us accepting lower wages in exchange for keeping our jobs. I know it’s not their fault that things turned out like this but it doesn’t make it easier. Thankfully, a friend did some networking for me and hooked me up with work at txu energy in san angelo. While it might not be exactly what I had in mind when envisioning where I would be working after leaving college, I’m certainly not going to complain about the lack of prospects that are being given to me. A lot of people don’t even have jobs and I’m just glad that I’ll be able to make rent this month. At least I don’t have a mortgage payment or anything to concern myself about.
I had to get my brother in law and my cousin to help me with some of the clean up, but of course at first I had to a tree service in long island to take care of the really dangerous part of the job. The storm must have been one of those cells that they talk about in the weather report. It was perfectly fine a few blocks in any direction, but the neighborhood I live in was a total wreck. We lost power for a day and a half and it was pretty awful. We could not do anything at first, because it was really dangerous. There were trees on the ground and one on the top of the house. It did not do real damage to the house, but it was only a light tree and part of it was hung up in the top of a different tree.
